Situated in Jongstra's hometown of Roermond, Cuypershuis presents a unique glimpse into the evolution of her artistic practice and activist mission.

The exhibition focuses on Jongstra's material studies and experiments, colour charts, and sketches. Her research into centuries-old textile techniques such as ajour and guipure, her use of natural materials and pigments, and her experiments with tactility and texture reflect the ongoing curiosity and innovation that drives her creative vision.

Featured works include Jongstra's collaborations with Viktor&Rolf and artist Marc Mulders, and her monumental tapestries ‘Guernica de la Ecología’ and ‘Tangible Transformation I'.

Cuypershuis is the former workshops of Pierre Cuypers, a designer and architect who championed traditional crafts and techniques in his work and encouraged collaboration with artisans. Jongstra's exhibition resonates strongly with this history.

In honor of this connection, Jongstra and her partner Claudia Busson, designed and planted a garden featuring native dye and medicinal plants in the courtyard at Cuypershuis.

Inspired by medieval monastic gardens, accompanied by a programme of workshops, lectures, and debates, the garden extends the ethos of Jongstra's exhibition into a permanent, vibrant space where art, nature, craft and community come together - inspiring a renewed, respectful relationship with our planet, a message deeply rooted in Jongstra’s mission, practice and oeuvre.
