Maison Margiela by John Galliano | Couture Coat

Claudy Jongstra was commissioned by John Galliano to create a custom textile from felted Drenthe Heath wool on silk organza for the one-of-a-kind caban coat featured in the Maison Margiela Autumn-Winter 2018 Couture Artisianal Collection.

Dyed with organic indigo, a spectrum of plant-based blues evoke the feeling of a well-worn garment, exposed to the elements and faded in places by the sun. Hand-stitched embroidery in handspun silk yarns contribute to the artisanal, organic, and tactile qualities of the collection, which Galliano calls "nomadic glamour".
